IBA Transaction Database: Where Does the Data Come From?

The IBA solicits information from individual business brokers, accountants, and other intermediaries involved in the actual sale/purchase of closely held businesses, and from organizations of such persons.

IBA members are asked to submit information on transactions in which they have participated and that involved sale/purchase of closely held businesses.

The following form is used by IBA members and others to provide information for inclusion in the IBA Transaction Database. Completion of the form is voluntary, but of extreme importance to the IBA and its members. It is the IBA's commitment to regularly increase the amount of information in the database, and to continue to make the information available to IBA members. View Market Data Submission Form

When the form is received by the IBA, the information is reviewed for reasonableness. If reasonable, the information is then entered in the database. If something appears amiss, the person who submitted the form is contacted and any ambiguities are resolved.
